The Charles Schultz Philosophy!

"The Charles Schultz Philosophy!"

1. Name the five wealthiest people in the world.
2. Name the last five Heisman trophy winners.
3. Name the last five winners of the Miss America contest.
4. Name any ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer prize.
5. Name the last half dozen Academy Award winners for best actor.
6. Name the last decade's World Series winners.

"How did you do?"
The point is, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday. These are no second-rate achievers. They are the best in their fields. But the applause dies. Awards tarnish.

Achievements are forgotten. Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners.

Anatomy of a Prospect’s Mind

Here's another quiz. See how you do on this one:
1. List a few teachers who aided your journey through school.
2. Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time.
3. Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile.
4. Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated and special.
5. Think of five people you enjoy spending time with.
6. Name half a dozen heroes whose stories have inspired you.

"Easier?"

The big lesson
The people who make a difference in your life are not the ones with the most credentials, the most money, or the most awards. They are the ones that care.

Written by "Peanuts" Creator, Charles Schultz. The SAME man who couldn't get a cartoonist job at The Disney Corporation. Some 'boss' at Disney told Charles he lacked talent and was not creative.

Key Point: Don't let others 'label' you. Mr. Schultz didn't. Follow his lead. Follow your heart. Live your life for "You".

Coming in 2009 — Natural Remedies!

Coming in 2009 Natural Remedies!

Keep an eye out for reformulated natural remedies sometime in 2009, as a few of our tried and true remedies get a natural face lift. Watkins Liniment will be one of the first to enjoy this natural transition with a natural formula that excludes F,D,& C red #40. This natural product sports a ruddier color, the natural color of the formula! Be one of the first to see the proposed product packaging for this line.

Going Green - Reducing Your Carbon Foot Print

If you've turned on the radio or television lately, you've probably heard the term Green more than once. Seems that these days everyone is going Green and reducing their carbon footprint. But what do these terms really mean? They are buzzwords that we are going to continue hearing a lot about, so let's find out what all the BUZZ is about!

Green is a shorthand phrase referring to sustaining Earth's resources. It is a vague term that can be used in many different contexts. But footprints are a bit of a different story. Think about the way you live your life. How much water does it take to support your actions each day? Do you enjoy half-hour showers or are you a get-in and get-out kind of person? Doesn't seem like it makes much of a difference, but it does add up and the longer your showers the bigger your ecological footprint. Ecological footprint, what's that? It is the amount of water and food needed to meet your daily needs throughout your lifetime. Now, what about your carbon footprint? This is another term we hear about almost on a daily basis. What it boils down to is really very simple, it is the amount of energy you consume to conduct your life. Imagine how much electricity, natural gas, and gasoline you use to run your home, power your car and even get that morning bowl of cereal to your table. It all adds up and just a few small steps can help to reduce it.

We can go into an in depth discussion about footprints and being Green, but lets focus on carbon footprints.

Your carbon footprint is the amount of energy you use to live day-to-day. By reducing your footprint, not only are you conserving energy and the planet, but you are also saving money. Checkout these simple carbon footprint reducers…who knew cutting your carbon footprint could also save you money?

  • Turn off televisions, stereos, home theater systems, and other electronics when not in use. Try this: plug your televisions and other home theater electronics in a power strip with an on/off switch. When you turn your television and other electronics off for the night, flip the switch on the power strip and totally eliminate wasted power.
  • Save over 50% on your homes lighting cost when you replace a standard incandescent bulb with a compact fluorescent bulb. They last longer too!
  • Always wash clothes in cold water. Not only does this preserve the color longer, it saves you money and conserves energy.
  • Use your consumer power! Support companies that are making an effort to improve communities and the environment through Greener manufacturing practices, charitable support, and product offerings that are safe for your family and the environment. Watkins offers a full line of natural, eco-friendly spices and extracts, personal care and home care.

History of Watkins Products

Watkins was founded in 1868 by J.R. Watkins. That’s 140 years ago. In 1868, the Civil War had just ended and was a recent memory to everyone at the time. Andrew Johnson was President of the United States taking over from Abraham Lincoln who was recently assassinated. A few things that did not exist yet include the telephone, the light bulb, airplanes, and the Suez and Panama Canals. There were just 37 states in the union and they were all in the same time zone since there was only one time zone. General George Custer and Geronimo were still alive and well. And J.R. Watkins, living in Plainview, Minnesota had a dream, a recipe, and a kitchen where he created Watkins Red Liniment.

His Watkins Red Liniment launched a company that has created careers for hundreds of thousands of Watkins men and women over the years. In 1869, J.R. Watkins established America’s first Money-Back Guarantee. He put a Trial-Mark on the Liniment Bottles and told customers that they could use the product down to that line and if they didn’t like it, he’d give them their money back.

By 1885 the production of Liniment had outgrown his home and the town of Plainview, so he moved the company to the booming lumber town of Winona, Minnesota, which boasted five railroads and was already an important port on the Mississippi River. In Winona, Watkins incorporated his company as the J. R. Watkins Medical Company. The company expanded its product line to include products such as Petro-Carbo Salve, Vanilla, Black Pepper, and Cinnamon. By 1915 Watkins was the largest direct selling company in the world and had the majority of the spice and extract market for decades.

For 140 years, Watkins has been America’s pioneer in natural living, utilizing the finest natural ingredients in our product line from apothecary to spices. Since the beginning, Watkins specialized in home remedies using natural botanicals—like camphor, menthol and herbs—to help people feel better and live healthy lives.

To this day, Watkins adheres strictly to the same quality standards set forth by J.R. Watkins. With our J.R. Watkins Natural Apothecary line of natural personal care, we use only natural, environmentally friendly ingredients from renewable resources, avoiding chemicals like parabens, sulfates, phthalates.

Watkins now aims to make household chores a little easier and environmentally friendly, with our newest line of natural home care products - J.R. Watkins Natural Home Care - that are safe for your home and family. A re-introduction of our way to clean, playing our part in the way to green living.

Do you remember how wonderful your Grandmother’s cooking was? And your Great Grandmother’s cooking also? The traditional home-cooked meal by our ancestors were almost always cooked with Watkins Products, almost exclusively. That, and a pinch of love is what made those old-time traditional home-cooked meals so delicious and wonderful! Our Watkins products are what almost everyone used up until the 1950’s. When people think fondly back at all those wonderful meals, Grandma’s wonderful cookies, Great Aunt Mabel’s amazing roast they are thinking fondly of how wonderful Watkins products are!

So spread the word and don’t forget how special Watkins Products really are. Why do you think so many great people are involved with Watkins? Not just the wonderful income opportunity and the great products - but also the great family values and traditions that are synonymous with Watkins.

Since its beginnings, Watkins has been family owned and operated. J. R. Watkins’ descendants—Watkins and Kings—guided the company through its first 110 years. In 1978 Irwin L. Jacobs purchased Watkins, and the Jacobs family continues the Watkins’ tradition of manufacturing the highest quality products and providing outstanding service that exceeds expectations.

Watkins commitment to natural ingredients, sustainability and respect for the environment and the community is their heritage. And as they learn and grow with consumers, they continue to meet customer’s needs for a clean, natural, healthier lifestyle.

How to Grow Your Business through Sponsoring

How to Grow Your Business through Sponsoring

The key to success and the only way to grow your business is to constantly sponsor and introduce fresh faces to Watkins. The day you stop talking to new people is the day your business stops growing. As a matter of fact, business never maintains in this industry — you move forward or you slide back. A strong business needs width (people you personally sponsor) and depth (people sponsored by your downline). Setting the example for those on your team and leading the pack is key to your success in duplication. Never rely on your downline to carry your business.

Here are some key rules to be cognizant of as you sponsor and grow your business, to ensure you continue to advance.

Rule #1: Sponsor in numbers. There is security in numbers. People come and go. Some stay a long time, others a short time. Some perform higher and others lower than you expect. Some will, some won't, so what. NEXT! The more you have to work with, the better.

Rule #2: Balance. Balance comes from having enough personal recruits (width) to insure you against the stellar performance of one person in your business. Don't rely on one or two "stars" to produce volume and advance you on the compensation plan and keep you there. The more people you develop, the higher you advance on the compensation plan.

Rule #3: Focus on Business Builders. As you continue to recruit new members into your team, look for the people with a desire to sponsor and advance on the compensation plan. Those interested in moving up the ranks quickly. The best way to build a strong business is to surround yourself with the best people that you can find. Raise your expectations and business builders will come. Make sure you sell the business and the potential it has to change lives. Don't just focus on the discount.

Business prospects can be found anywhere — expand your reach. Plug into business and professional associations, wellness centers, medical suites, fitness centers, and spas. Fill your calendar with activities that ensure you're meeting prospects and promoting your #1 product - the Watkins business opportunity.

Building for Long-Term Success

Building for Long-Term Success

How to Build a Strong Organization for Long-Term Success

· Understand, manage, and exceed the expectations that others have for their business. Don’t trade short-term gain for long-term wealth by inflating what’s possible. Let others know that they can expect to succeed if they are willing to do the work. Create the expectation of growth, not maintenance.

· Build strong relationships with all your team members – customers and team builders. You’ll see team builders remain committed to their goals, develop long-term customers who order each month, and see business builders emerge from your pool of loyal customers.

· Discover the needs and wants of each person you encounter. First seek to know what they want, then help them to get it. Some of the most successful leaders go so far as to maintain a profile of each new recruit, detailing personalities, desires, and personal information.

· Strive to help others get off to a fast start, which will help them withstand the onslaught of external negative force. Help each new team member develop three short stories: Why this company? Why these products? Why this business system?

· Study your retention data, which holds clues to how you can improve.

· Make a point to reward longtime customers and team builders to foster an environment of loyalty.
